Create your own embroidered butterfly using the traditional technique of counted blackwork, popularized by Henry VIII’s first wife Catherine of Aragon, who stayed at the Palace.
The project is worked on Edinburgh linen with a range of black threads, and sections of the butterfly will be sampled throughout the day enabling attendees to complete the project at home.
A kit is provided with full instructions and materials. All abilities welcome.
This workshop is led by Owen Davies, lecturer and embroiderer from the Royal School of Needlework.
